Digital fiction: Kate Pullinger og Matt Hayler

  • Universitetet i Oslo: HumSam biblioteket - Studentbiblioteket Sophus Bugge (map)

What happens when literature moves from paper to the screen?

What elements are necessary for a book? Paper, binding, words on the page? Digital formats have challenged our understanding of what a book is, and they have revolutionised the guise in which we meet literary fiction. Kate Pullinger's novel "Breathe", for example, is written to be read on a smart phone.

In collaboration with the Literature, Cognition and Emotions group we have invited two of the most prominent scholars working in the field of digital literature to talk about what happens when fiction becomes digital.

Panel:
KATE PULLINGER – Professor of Creative Writing and Digital Literature at Bath Spa University. Kate Pullinger is a writer of fiction for both print and digital formats: www.katepullinger.com.

MATT HAYLER – Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Literature and Contemporary Cultures at the University of Birmingham. He is also a part of the Ambient Literature project: https://research.ambientlit.com/

Moderator:
KARIN KUKKONEN – Professor in Comparative Literature and head of the LCE-group at the University of Oslo.
